VETMotorsports: Empowering Wounded Veterans
by Peter Cline
About the Garments
Mission Statement:
VETMotorsports honors and empowers disabled combat veterans through active participation in motorsports.
In 2012, Pete Cline created VETMotorsports as a part of his pro racing efforts in the American Motorcyclist Associations Harley Davidson XR1200 series. VETMotorsports is not a race team, but a non-clinical outreach program working within existing teams as our partners.
Since its inception, VETMotorsports has grown to engage over 42 veterans in 11 motorcycle and auto racing events across the United States. To date, VETMotorsports has provided teams of veterans as crew members for teams in pro racing for motorcycles, and has put veterans behind the wheel as competitors in autocross competition. These events help empower veteran warriors through activities that provide the same adrenalin rush and sense of vitality and teamwork felt in active duty. They engage, participate, and contribute, and the events focus on ability and moving forward rather than disability and what’s happened in the past. Veterans experience the opportunity to feel valued in a civilian world, where they often struggle to fit in.
VETMotorsports’ vision is to grow from its current foundation to provide repeatable and sustainable motorsports programs suited to participation by broad range disabled combat veterans. We continue to be an outreach program focusing on the now and the positive for all veterans.
All of the money raised from this campaign will help us continue providing access to racing and racing events for our vets. Help us grow in our vision, be involved in something worthwhile and meaningful and see a direct positive impact on all the veterans involved.
